Recurring running injury that keeps coming back?

If you have ongoing knee pain, Achilles pain, plantar heel pain, shin pain, hip pain, calf pain or lower back pain, you may be eligible for a bulk-billed running injury assessment with physiotherapist James Le through a valid GP Medicare Chronic Condition Management referral.

At Acland Street Physiotherapy, James combines sports physiotherapy, running biomechanics, strength assessment and practical return-to-running advice to help identify why your injury keeps recurring.

No out-of-pocket cost for eligible patients with a valid GP referral.

Book your bulk-billed running injury assessment with James Le
or speak to your GP first if you do not yet have a referral.

Who this is for

This assessment may suit runners with:
  • Recurring knee pain
  • Achilles pain
  • Plantar heel pain
  • Shin pain
  • Hip pain
  • Calf pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Ongoing pain after a running injury
  • Difficulty returning to running

You do not need to be an elite runner. This may suit recreational runners, Parkrun participants, gym-goers, footballers, triathletes and anyone wanting to return to running safely.

What James will assess

Your assessment may include:
  • Injury history
  • Running goals
  • Training load
  • Running biomechanics
  • Strength and mobility
  • Balance and control
  • Footwear
  • Recovery habits
  • Return-to-running tolerance

The aim is to understand why the injury keeps coming back and give you a clear plan to return to running safely.

Important: GP referral required

To access a bulk-billed Medicare physiotherapy session, you need a valid GP Chronic Condition Management referral.

A useful question to ask your GP is:

“I have a recurring running injury. Am I eligible for a Medicare Chronic Condition Management referral to physiotherapy?”

Your GP will decide whether you meet the eligibility criteria.

Why choose Acland Street Physiotherapy?

Your running injury assessment will be provided by James Le, a sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist and Accredited Athletics Australia Running Coach.

James is an ex-elite sprinter who still trains, bringing practical experience in speed, power, sprint mechanics, running biomechanics and lower-limb performance.

Acland Street Physiotherapy is led by Barry Nguyen, a physiotherapist, ex-marathoner, avid runner and Accredited Athletics Australia Running Coach. Barry’s running and sports physiotherapy background helps shape the clinic’s approach to running injury assessment, rehab and return-to-running planning.

This means your injury is assessed not just as an isolated pain problem, but in the context of how you move, train, recover and perform.

Not eligible for Medicare?

You can still book a standard private physiotherapy consultation.
Private health insurance rebates may apply depending on your fund and level of cover.
